Laura Blanchard is a graduate of Campbell University, Busies Creek, North Carolina, where she received her Master\u2019s in Physician Assistant Practice after first completing her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at East Carolina University. She currently works as a Physician Assistant in on the inpatient hematology\/oncology unit at UNC Hospitals Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.<\/p>\n
Laura was selected to be the first inpatient Advance Practice Provider (APP) for UNC Hospitals Hematology\/oncology department. She was able to help create and mold this position to what has now expanded into a 6 person APP independent service, with plans expand.\u00a0 As part of her job, she trains residents and fellows in a variety of procedures and oncologic specific practices.<\/p>\n
She has been a guest lecturer for both UNC and Campbell\u2019s PA programs as well as UNC\u2019s residency program.\u00a0 She is a graduate of the Charter Class of Campbell University\u2019s Physician Assistant program, graduating in 2013 as a member of the Pi Alpha National Honor Society. She is a native of Greenville, NC who now resides in Pittsboro, NC with her Husband, Steven, and her son, Harrison.\u00a0 Her hobbies include playing the trumpet, fishing and volunteering.<\/p>\n
Laura Blanchard is the 2020 NC Triangle Man & Woman of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Man & Woman of the Year is philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of two local children who are blood cancer survivors. Laura was our representative candidate from UNC this year. The man and woman who have raised the most funds during the ten-week campaign are awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year in their community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
