BCBP Seminar: Morgan Desantis PhD
October 18, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Morgan Desantis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Molecular, Cellular, and Development Biology
University of Michigan
Host: Rick Baker
Title: Mechanisms of dynein regulation
Motor proteins are molecular machines that power cellular movement.
The DeSantis lab studies mechanisms of how microtobule associated motor proteins transport cellular cargo. We ask questions like “How do motor proteins move?”, “How are motor proteins’ activities controlled in cells?”, and “Why are many neurodevelopmental diseases associated with motor misfunction?”. We use a broad range of techniques including single molecule TIRF microscopy, live-cell fluorescence microscopy, and cryo electron microscopy.
Seminars are open to the public. Location: 1131 Bioinformatics Building, UNC, Chapel Hill, NC 27599. Park at the Dogwood Deck or see other UNC Visitor parking options. We encourage the public to view in our seminars and network with our students, trainees, and faculty.
