Andrew Carter, Ph.D. will be our speaker for the 2023 spring semester on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, hosted by Kevin Slep and Steve Rogers.

The title of his seminar is “Cargo transport by dynein/dynactin.”

Dr. Carter has a First-Class Honours Degree in Biochemistry from The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, UK; MRC PhD Studentship in Cambridge, UK; Post-doctoral research at University of California, San Francisco; and MRC Program Leader Track, MRC LMB in Cambridge, UK. He is currently the MRC Program Leader, MRC LMB in Cambridge, UK. He has received numerous awards and was just awarded the Hooke Medal for 2023. Dr. Carter’s lab focuses on the structure and function of dynein motor proteins. They combine cryo-EM, single-molecule and cell-biology approaches to understand how dyneins work and what they do in the cell. During his career, he has been invited and presented countless seminars around the globe.
