The 8th Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium

The 8th annual Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium will feature Dr. George P. Smith, who won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri.

The 8th Oliver Smithies Nobel Symposium will take place on Wednesday, May 1. The symposium will feature a panel discussion, postdoc mentoring lunch, and a keynote address from Nobel Laureate Dr. George P. Smith, a Curators’ Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at The University of Missouri. This is a symposium organized by postdocs from departments across campus. The panel discussion on “Ethics, Mentoring and Science Policy: Communicating Science in the Era of Fake News” is from 11 am-12 pm, in MBRB G-2002. No RSVP necessary to attend.

Everyone is invited to Dr. Smith’s keynote lecture “Oliver Smithies at 93: a Legacy of Innovation and Integrity” at 3 pm in MBRB Auditorium 2204. A reception for all attendees in the MBRB lobby will follow the keynote lecture.
