Safe Zone training on Nov. 18
November 18, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Safe Zone program is a symbol of Carolina’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. The purpose of Safe Zone is to create a network of allies for individuals who may be marginalized on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. All UNC faculty, staff, and students are eligible to become Safe Zone trainees. Training takes place several times a semester. The Standard Safe Zone training is a four (4) hour program open to all UNC-Chapel Hill community members. The training will:
- Raise awareness of issues faced by LGBTQ individuals
- Introduce participants to LGBTQ terminology
- Present strategies for being an ally to LGBTQ persons
- Present resources relevant to LGBTQ individuals
To attend Safe Zone training, you must register beforehand and must be able to attend the full training. To preserve the integrity of the training, participants cannot arrive late or leave early.
