Salary Negotiating Workshop

Negotiating about compensation is intimidating, uncomfortable and many new professionals lack this essential skill. Successful negotiation of a comprehensive compensation package is a major factor in growth at a company. Tabulating the financial and non-financial components of compensation packages reveals a wide range of outcomes that are influenced by negotiation. Women still earn 81 cents for every dollar earn on average and the statistics are more dismal when considering race and underrepresented gender identities. 81cents offers negotiation advisory and supporting data for new hires at various stages of their careers. Specifically, 81cents has expertise advising women and racial minorities on negotiation strategies to help gain compensation parity. This compensation negotiation event is important to the UNC graduate students because a significant proportion of our audience will benefit from learning these skills. To increase the impact of this event, we aim to increase the proportion of female attendees in the audience. GBCC is partnering with WiNS to ensure this content brings the highest benefit to the target audiences.
