SEMINAR: Jian Xu, PhD (UT-Southwestern University)

October 9, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Seminar title: Cis- and Trans-Regulatory Logics of Blood Stem Cells and Cancer

Jian Xu, PhD
Children’s Medical Center Research Institute
UT-Southwestern University

Host: Greg Wang, PhD

Jian Xu, PhD

The Xu lab is focuses on blood cell development and how abnormalities can cause cancers such as childhood leukemia. They seek to advance our understanding of the basic principles of gene regulation, particularly the mechanisms that control chromatin modifying complexes (e.g. Polycomb regulators) and non-coding regulatory elements (e.g. transcriptional enhancers), in normal and neoplastic blood cell development. Their studies promise to provide critical insights into developing novel therapeutic approaches for target-based cancer interventions.
