Structural Biology Discussion Group seminar: Brian Kuhlman PhD (UNC)

January 9, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Protein design using Rosetta and SEWING.  SEWING – Structure Extension WIth Native-fragment Graphs – takes sub-structure segments of experimentally determined structures and uses them to design proteins with new functions.  By using sub-structures designed through the evolutionary process, SEWING takes advantage of the work that nature has already done to create sequences with specific functionalities and can use those to design new, larger folds and unique functions.
