Volunteer at Carolina Community Garden
July 16, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us for a summer community garden party at Carolina Community Garden July 16, 3-5pm.
The Carolina Campus Community Garden (CCCG) provides fresh, sustainably-grown vegetables and fruit through the shared efforts of staff, students, faculty and local residents to UNC’s lowest wageworkers. The garden also serves as a learning community for developing gardening skills, healthy living, social responsibility and interdisciplinary academic pursuits.
The CCCG, an official North Carolina Botanical Garden program, is supported by many UNC campus groups including the Employee Forum and the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. The garden supplies fresh vegetables to low-income employees.
Location: The 14,000 square foot garden is located behind the Carolina Inn at 216 Wilson St., about a five-minute walk from the Old Well.
Volunteer tasks: planting, mulching, composting, harvesting, watering, working in the solar-powered greenhouse, building trellises and weeding.
Important reminders: No gardening knowledge necessary. Free parking is available during workdays in the lot across from the garden. Volunteers should bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. Spots maybe limited – first come, first serve!
