This week, August 17-23, 2020, follow #BlackInGeneticsWeek on Twitter. Founded by Alexis Stutzman @stutzman_alexis a PhD Candidate in Genetics and Molecular Biology in Jill Dowen and Dan McKay labs. She studies molecular determinants of chromatin accessibility and 3D architecture during Drosophila wing development. Alexis  earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences at The University of Chicago @UChicago where she studied the nuclear lamina and laminopathies in @MoskowitzLab and @IkegamiLab. She also does @BlackInGenetics and #BlackInGeneticsWeek, which amplifies the work and voices of black geneticists.

Co-organized by Markia Smith @MarkiaASmith a PhD Candidate in UNC Pathology in Hoadley Lab. Markia is interested in cancer genetics and disparities. Special thanks to a BIG volunteer, Tamara Vital @tvital_science, and help from friends @BIPOCinCompGen, @ade_lady and Renée Fonseca @renee_fonseca.
