Message from UNC Health & UNC School of Medicine

Dear Colleagues,

This week across UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine we are launching our annual Workforce Engagement Survey, which you may have heard people refer to as the “WES.” The survey opens June 8 and will run until June 29. I hope that you will find time for this brief, but important, opportunity to share your thoughts and feedback on what’s working and what can be improved across UNC Health and the SOM.

Over this last year we have been challenged in so many ways, adapting to care for patients with COVID-19, emerging as center for COVID research, learning and working together in new and different ways, and having difficult conversations about the impacts of racism. At this moment, we are focused on the future, considering what it will take to serve our state in the changing world of healthcare, while also looking at ways to improve and enhance our workplace culture. Your participation and the information you share through the WES can help guide those plans.

You will receive an invitation to participate via email from Press Ganey on June 8. Your responses to the survey are completely confidential. Your honest feedback is so important to helping us understand how we can best support you.

Thank you for all you do each day to help us meet our mission to the people of North Carolina.

Sincerely,

Wesley

Wesley Burks
CEO, UNC Health
Dean, UNC School of Medicine

The survey will be open from June 8 until June 29 at 11:59 pm.

2021 is the first year that SOM permanent employees will be participating in WES.

Who is participating in SOM:

    • All SOM Faculty excluding active physicians and APP’s – must have a primary faculty appointment in the SOM.
    • All SOM Permanent EHRA Non-Faculty greater than .5 FTE
    • All SOM Permanent SHRA greater than .5 FTE
    • All SOM appointed Postdoc Fellows
    • Active employees as of April 5, 2021 are included.

Our participation goal is 90%.

All responses are confidential and go directly to Press Ganey.

The survey provides mostly general questions that are applicable regardless of your role at the University or UNC Health, like “I like the work I do” or “This organization treats employees with respect”. In aggregate, this allows our colleagues to voice how we are doing as an organization.
