Aki Braceros successfully defended her dissertation under the direction of Dr. Mauro Calabrese on September 8, 2023, and she has received her PhD. The title of her dissertation is “Epigenetic regulation of gene expression by long non-coding RNAs.”

The UNC RNA Discovery Center has awarded three fellowship grants to support innovative research investigating various roles of RNA in health and disease. Two out of the three fellowships were awarded to members of the BCBP department. The Collaborative Team Science Fellowship goes to Qi Zhang, PhD, Joshua Boyer, PhD, and Ron Swanstrom, PhD. James Emerson was awarded the Marzluff Graduate Fellowship.
