Carolina is pausing all undergraduate instruction on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 to help students catch their breath and make the transition to remote learning. Undergraduate classes will resume Aug. 26

Effective Wednesday, August 19, all undergraduate in-person instruction will shift to remote learning. Courses in our graduate, professional and health affairs schools will continue to be taught as they are, or as directed by the schools. Academic advising and academic support services will be available online. Our research enterprise will remain unchanged.

The Roadmap was announced on May 21 along with the decision to begin fall classes earlier than normal on August 10. Every day since that decision was announced, the Carolina community has worked together to put a plan in place to implement the goals of the Roadmap, help keep one another safe and implement steps to help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Nathan (Nate) Thomas, PhD, has been named Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the UNC School of Medicine. Thomas will join the School of Medicine leadership effective March 16, 2020.

The Mary Ellen Jones renovation project is expected to be underway in mid-February, with construction fencing and early site mobilization efforts being the first visible signs of construction. The project is anticipated to have a 30-month duration.
