Our core provides state-of-the-art instrumentation, training, and resources across two main areas.<\/p>\n<p>(1) Biophysical characterization of macromolecules: our core features multiple instruments which enable determination of biomolecule size, complexation, and\/or oligomerization.<\/p>\n<p>(2) Biophysical analysis of biomolecule interactions: our core features a suite of instruments to quantitatively assess the binding of a biomolecule to another biomolecule, a drug molecule, or any other ligand.<\/p>\n<p>Core instrumentation includes fully-automated surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based and bio-layer interferometry (BLI)-based biosensors; fully-automated isothermal titration calorimeters (ITCs); a circular dichroism (CD) spectropolarimeter; a size-exclusion chromatography multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS) instrument; a dynamic light scattering (DLS) plate reader; a fluorescence microplate reader; a nanoDSF (nano-differential scanning fluorimeter); and a microscale thermophoresis (MST) instrument.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome users from across all departments at UNC as well as from other universities and companies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assistant Professor Mac-in-Fac facility Core Director\u00a0 CB# 1124 Genome (919) 962-4399 The Macromolecular Interactions Facility (Mac-In-Fac) is a core facility of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Department of Biochemistry &amp; Biophysics.
