See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/it\/services\/room-reservations\/\">SOM Room Reservations\/Scheduling<\/a> webpage.<\/p>\n<p>1131: BIOINFORMATICS<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">There has been an ongoing problem with adapters and laser pointers in 1131 Bioinformatics for our seminars. When I contacted ITS I was told the following:<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">We no longer provide USB-C to HDMI adapters for laptop cables in SOM classrooms as we cannot guarantee our adapter will work consistently with different types of user laptops. We have had too many compatibility issues with the adapters we provided, so we now recommend that you or your users purchase their own USB-C to HDMI adapters (we recommend the Apple brand adapter for MacBooks).\u00a0With that being said, please make sure to either tell your guest speakers to bring their own adapter if they plan to use their laptop rather than the desktop, or have one of your own for them to use for their talk. It would also be a good idea if they could save their presentation on a flash drive to use as a backup, if for some reason there is no adapter available at the time of their talk. I will try my best to remember to add that bit of information to the email that I send when the speakers are scheduled. I will contact the remaining faculty candidates regarding bringing their adapters if they plan to use their laptops for their talk, and just in case they forget to do so, the host can help out as well.
