The title of the award is &#8220;Computer-based Design of Dengue Virus Vaccine Antigens\u201d. Stephan\u2019s research is focused on using computational methods to engineer and design proteins to be used as vaccines capable of providing protection against Dengue infection. This fellowship will fund his efforts over two years. The lab will use software to redesign the Dengue envelope protein antigen so that it stays a stable dimer at physiological temperature, a stability issue that appears to have prevented its use as a vaccine. The funding was provided by NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stephan Kudlacek, a graduate student in Brian
