University Research Week is taking place from November 4-8, 2019, and there are many campus-wide events showcasing the research done at UNC.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

Below are some of the main events specifically highlighting research done in the School of Medicine \u2013 mark your calendars! You can visit the University Research Week website here<\/a> for more events.<\/p>\n

November 4, 2019: 4 pm at Carolina Club \u2013 Hettleman Talks<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Attend these TEDX-style presentations from the four winners of the annual Philip and Ruth Hettleman Prizes for Artistic and Scholarly Achievement which are given to researchers conducting innovative work in their fields. The talks will feature our own Dr. Li Qian and Dr. Greg Wang.<\/p>\n

November 8, 2019: 3-5 pm in Glaxo Research Building Room 008 – CryoEM Open House<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Meet Dr. Joshua Strauss, the Director of the new cryoEM facility at UNC, visit the Talos Actica machine, and learn about the cryoEM consortium between UNC, Duke, and NIEHS. Light refreshments will be served. More information about the cryoEM core facility can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

November 4-8, 2019: Bondurant Hall Lobby<\/b> \u2013 \u201cArt in Science\u201d Display<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In celebration of University Research Week, the School of Medicine solicited innovative scientific images that showcase the outstanding biomedical research in the School and the beauty that is reflected in the science. Visit the Bondurant Hall lobby to view the winners of this competition. (Earlier this year Cook lab submitted a scientific image for this competition.)<\/p>\n
