In his own lab, he will pursue two main research programs: the maintenance of genome stability in plants under DNA-damaging environmental stress and the symbiotic interaction between plants and microbes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14549\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/795\/2020\/07\/Onur.Oztas2017postdocAzizSancarlab-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During his tenure as a postdoc in <a href=\"http:\/\/sancarlab.unc.edu\/\">Dr. Aziz Sancar\u2019s lab<\/a> in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Dr. Oztas focused on nucleotide excision repair in plants and circadian regulation of posttranscriptional mechanisms and his research was <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/?term=onur+oztas\">published in prominent journals.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We congratulate Dr. Oztas on his new position and wish him the best of luck in his career journey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Oztas will join the faculty in Koc University in September 2020.
