Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31) on July 17, 2020. The title of his research proposal is &#8220;Control of gene silencing by long noncoding RNAs in trophoblast stem cells.&#8221; Keean will employ quantitative genomics to investigate how long noncoding RNAs are able to induce silencing of specific protein-coding genes over broad regions of the genome. He will study this process in trophoblast stem cells, an ex vivo model for the trophoblast, which is an important tissue that gives rise to the placenta during early development and is essential for fertility.
