The Department ranks fourth among all Biochemistry departments in the US, (both public and private institutions not just public) in 2020.<\/p>\n

We received over $20.6 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2020. According to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR)<\/a>, this ranks us 4th among all Biochemistry departments and the 2nd highest among public institutions.<\/strong> Of note, seven of our faculty (Ronald Swanstrom, Dale A. Ramsden, Bill F. Marzluff, Jean G. Cook, Aziz Sancar, Brian A. Kuhlman, and Wolfgang Bergmeier) ranked in the top 124 of most highly funded NIH investigators in 2020 for Biochemistry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Of special note is that Ronald Swanstrom ranked 3rd among all principal investigators in Biochemistry for total NIH dollars. Dale Ramsden 12th, Bill Marzluff (Wm F.) 68th, Jean G. Cook 69th, Aziz Sancar 71st, Brian Kuhlman 97th, Wolfgang Bergmeier 124th among all principal investigators in Biochemistry for total NIH dollars.<\/p>\n
