NIH released NOT-OD-21-073 in March 2021 announcing revised guidelines for the NIH Biosketch and Other Support document for any submission with a due date on or after May 25th, 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NIH has recently released new templates for both Biosketches<\/strong> and Other Support<\/strong>. These changes are effective for applications due on or after May 25, 2021. <\/span><\/p>\n

Please familiarize yourselves with the new formats. Highlighted below are a few of the most notable changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Biosketches<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

View the updated Biosketch template, instructions and an updated example<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There are 3 key changes:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Section A.<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Personal Statement can now include selected research support to aid the description of why you are well-suited for this project<\/span><\/p>\n

Section B.<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Section B. is now called Positions, Scientific Appointments, and Honors. This now requires you to list, in reverse chronological order, all positions and scientific appointments both domestic and foreign, including affiliations with foreign entities or governments. This includes titled academic, professional, or institutional appointments whether or not remuneration is received, and whether full-time, part-time, or voluntary (including adjunct, visiting, or honorary).<\/span><\/p>\n

Section D.<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n

Section D. Research Support has been removed (for fellowship biosketches Section D. Scholastic Performance is still included)<\/span><\/p>\n

Other Support<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The changes to Other Support are more significant and OSR is formulating full guidance based on how UNC will interpret the updated format and content requests, please stay tuned for that OSR notice. View example<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We ask that you work on updating your biosketch now if you have upcoming grant or RPPR submissions in May, or are a mentor on CCEP, DUNC-IT, or ITCMS T32s that will renew in May.<\/span><\/p>\n
