Lee, PhD, Research Assistant Professor, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Abstract\/Poster #1000<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;Investigating the Roles of Platelet PAR4 in Hemostasis, Thrombosis and Viral Infection Using a Newly Generated PAR4 Floxed Mouse&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Date: December 11, 2021<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Location: Hall B5, GA World Congress Center.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This work was a collaborative effort between Lee\/Bergmeier and Dr. Silvio Antoniak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and member of the UNC Blood Research Center, and was recently published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (DOI: 10.1111\/jth.15569).<\/p>\n<p>Lee\u2019s research interests are centered around platelet signaling and function. More specifically, he is focused on two main areas of platelet research: 1) the utility of platelet transfusion in various bleeding disorders, and 2) mechanisms regulating platelet lifespan in blood and platelet clearance in organs such as the spleen and liver.<\/p>\n<p>The Bergmeier lab utilizes mouse models of platelet dysfunction, and established state-of-the-art imaging techniques to allow the visualization of platelet adhesion and aggregation at sites of vascular injury in vivo, as well as real-time clearance of platelets in various organs.
