{"id":22186,"date":"2022-04-26T08:32:04","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T12:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/?p=22186"},"modified":"2023-02-08T14:59:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T19:59:32","slug":"jeff-bonin-earns-his-phd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/news\/jeff-bonin-earns-his-phd\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeff Bonin earns his PhD!"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_22125\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22125\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/795\/2022\/04\/Jeff-Bonin-300x289.png\" alt=\"Jeffery Bonin dressed in a tux\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Jeff Bonin, Ph.D.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jeff Bonin successfully defended his dissertation on April 19<sup>th<\/sup>, 2022, and received his Ph.D. The dissertation, titled \u201cDynamic Allostery in Substrate Binding by Human Thymidylate Synthase\u201d, was completed under the direction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/directory\/andrew-l-lee\/\">Dr. Andrew Lee.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jeff received a B.A. in physics with a minor in bioinformatics from Washington University in St. Louis in 2016. At Washington University, Jeff participated in research efforts in a number of different fields, including radiology, astrophysics, and metabolic engineering.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Jeff joined the Biochemistry and Biophysics department following the biophysics track.
