Here,\u00a0<\/span>Zhang lab<\/span>\u00a0collaborated with Dr. Ramamoorthy’s group at the University of Michigan to use polymer\u00a0<\/span>nanodiscs<\/span>\u00a0as a novel alignment medium for measuring residual dipolar couplings on RNA. Residual dipolar couplings are an NMR observable that reports on the relative orientation of internuclear bond vectors irrespective of distance.\u00a0<\/span>This new technology facilitates the collection of this powerful and sometimes tediously wrought information.<\/span>\u00a0The Ramamoorthy group developed and characterized the alignment\u00a0<\/span>medium<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Zhang lab\u00a0<\/span>provided an NMR sample of a model system we have extensively characterized, the fluoride riboswitch aptamer, and conducted the RDC analysis and benchmarking.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
