The Research Project Grant (R01) is the original and historically oldest grant mechanism used by NIH. The R01 provides support for health-related research and development based on the mission of the NIH.<\/p>\n

The Neher lab primarily studies proteins involved in lipid metabolism. They use structural biology, biochemistry, and microscopy to answer questions about enzyme function, inhibition, and trafficking.<\/span> This new award focuses on lipoprotein lipase, the main enzyme responsible for <\/span>hydrolyzing triglycerides from circulating lipoproteins. It will allow the lab to better understand how lipoprotein lipase <\/span>moves<\/span> from cells into<\/span> the<\/span> blood in response to insulin <\/span>signaling<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
