\"Logan<\/a>Meet Dr. Logan Slade, a postdoctoral fellow in the Cook lab<\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a>“I did my PhD at Dalhousie University in Canada. My PhD research focused on the regulation of cell stress responses in triple-negative breast cancer, specifically focusing on the transcription factor TFEB. We were able to uncover novel functions for this protein in regulating DNA repair in response to genotoxic chemotherapy, which enabled cancer cell survival. As a result of my research, I became interested in studying the basic mechanisms through which cells maintain genome stability and avoid DNA damage, and this led to my fascination with cell cycle control and specifically regulation of DNA replication. I\u2019m interested in exploring cell cycle regulation using fixed and live cell high content imaging, as well through functional genomics and bioinformatics.<\/div>\n

In my free time I like watching and playing basically any sports, and I\u2019m very excited to experience college football and basketball season in Chapel Hill. I also like riding bikes, hiking, and generally exploring outside. I also listen to a lot of audiobooks, especially non-fiction and histories.”<\/div>\n
