I am from Moscow, Russia, and have just arrived in the US and I am absolutely delighted to be a part of the UNC. Using comprehensive computational modeling I was able to demonstrate that CLEC-2-induced activation of platelets is controlled not only biochemically, through tyrosine kinases, but through CLEC-2 receptor clustering pattern as well. At that time, I became interested in the platelet functioning in case of various pathologic conditions, such as immune thrombocytopenia or COVID-19.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I worked with the team of Anastasia Sveshnikova at Dmitri Rogachev Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Immunology Hospital in Moscow. Using both theoretical and experimental methods we were able to study platelets of the patients with the aforementioned and even were capable of studying the patients with an extremely rare disorder \u2013 Kasabach Merritt syndrome. This disease is mainly driven via the platelet CLEC-2 receptor and in line with that we were able to observe the profoundly decreased amounts of CLEC-2 on the severe patients\u2019 platelets. All of these studies have been published in recent years and if you would like to discuss them \u2013 I would be delighted to.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Besides science, I play the guitar and am sort of a metalhead, love motorsport (Formula 1 and drift), and follow soccer.
