Congratulations to graduate student Ike Emerson<\/span><\/span> in the Conlon<\/span><\/span> lab for making it to the <\/span><\/span>Three Minute Thesis (3MT)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0finals! <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Ike Emerson<\/span>, a 5<\/span>th<\/span> year <\/span>grad<\/span> student in Frank Conlon\u2019s lab,<\/span> is one of the finali<\/span>sts who will compete at The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) on Oct. 22, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. <\/span>The Conlon lab <\/span>studies why the male and female heart conduct electrical impulses differently and how this leads to differences in heart disease prevalence.<\/span> Ike\u2019s talk title is<\/span>\u00a0“The Spark of Cardiac Sex Differences.”<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

UNC-Chapel Hill\u2019s 2024 3MT Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

The final competition takes place during University Research Week.<\/p>\n

Please <\/span>come over to<\/span> Gerrard Hall on October 22, 2024, <\/span>from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm<\/span> to cheer him on<\/span>.<\/span> Your support could help Ike win the people\u2019s choice award!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Three Minute Thesis (3MT)<\/a> is an academic competition that assists current graduate students with fostering effective presentation and communication skills. Participants have just three minutes to explain the breadth and significance of their research project to a non-specialist audience. \"Three<\/p>\n

3MT was developed by The University of Queensland in 2008, and is now held in more than 900 universities in 85 countries around the world.<\/p>\n

Master\u2019s and Doctoral students enrolled at UNC from any discipline administered by The Graduate School were welcome to register and participate in the competition. All are welcome to serve as audience members throughout the competition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
