Brian is particularly interested in using his experience and training to break new ground in protein design. He initiated the Baker lab\u2019s interests in this area by developing a powerful new computer program to facilitate design efforts. Brian has gotten off to a fast start at UNC: he recently received a grant from the NIH to pursue design work and he published an important advance in the prestigious journal Science (\u201cDesign of a Novel Globular Protein Fold with Atomic Level Accuracy\u201d, Science 302, 1364-1368, 2003).<\/span><span\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; \"><span>To learn more about Dr.
