The award comes with a financial prize of $1,000. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.25em 0pt 0.85em; line-height: 1.5em; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); letter-spacing: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; word-spacing: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-align: justify; \"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 51, 51); letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 18px; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; word-spacing: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline ! important; float: none; \">Dr. Cook is currently an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics who maintains a research lab <\/span><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 51, 51); letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; word-spacing: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline ! important; float: none; \">that focuses on understanding how the DNA synthesis machinery is assembled at origins of DNA replication in mammalian cells. Eventually, this will allow for an understanding of how assembly of replication complexes is regulated by normal and aberrant cell signaling. This work has clear ramifications for the understanding and treatment of cancer and other cell proliferative diseases.
