Folt, fellow Nobel laureate Oliver Smithies and visiting UNC System President Margaret Spellings, \u201cI\u2019m responsible for two Nobel Prizes.\u201d<br \/>\n    <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>During President Spelling\u2019s tour of Carolina, she along with Chancellor Folt took time to visit with the system\u2019s only Nobel laureates, Smithies and Sancar. They learned that Smithies and Sancar are both halves of an academic team recruited at separate times to UNC. Smithies spouse is Dr. Nobuya Maeda, Distinguished Professor of Pathology and Sancar\u2019s is Dr. Gwen Sancar, Professor of Biochemistry &amp; Biophysics.<\/p>\n<p>In the April 6, 2016 issue of the UNC Gazette, Smithies told Spellings that \u201cI came on my wife\u2019s coattails.
