He plans on establishing his new lab by December 2014. As a postdoctoral fellow at UNC, he has been co-mentored by Drs. Ted Salmon, Professor of Biology and Jean Cook, Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics. Dr. Varma\u2019s research efforts aim to better understand how kinetochore microtubule attachments are formed and maintained properly for accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis. But to start with, he will continue to work on his K99\/R00 grant which focuses on understanding how the kinetochore-bound Ndc80 complex and the DNA replication licensing protein Cdt1 coordinate together for forming robust attachment with microtubules of the mitotic spindle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); \">Congratulations again to Dr. Varma on his new position and all
