His article \u201cEnhancer diversity and the control of a simple pattern of Drosophila CNS midline cell expression\u201d was published <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); \">online ahead of print<\/span> in the May 20, 2014 issue of Developmental Biology. He came to the Crews Lab in 2007 after receiving his PhD from the University of California, San Diego. He has received several grants including the NRSA postdoctoral award and the UNC Developmental Biology Training Grant. His current research efforts are (1) Identifying and analyzing enhancers regulating <i>Drosophila <\/i>CNS midline gene expression;<\/span> (<span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); \">2) Developing a cross-platform GUI for visualization and analysis of conserved enhancer sequences; and (3) Characterizing genome-wide midline regulatory sequences using next-gen sequencing data. The Crews laboratory is concerned with the molecular mechanisms that govern the development of the Drosophila central nervous system. The lab is also interested in mechanisms of cell migration and neuron-glial interactions that include the study of cell adhesion proteins.
