Her term begins July 1, 2013 and run for one year.  Dr. Parise\u2019s main goal on the committee is \u201c\u2026to help ASBMB effectively communicate scientific priorities and accomplishments to the public and to our government,\u201d and \u201cA secondary goal for me is to gain increased visibility for our Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics within ASBMB.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1906, the Society\u2019s purpose is to advance the science of biochemistry and molecular biology through publication of scientific and educational journals: the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular &amp; Cellular Proteomics, and the Journal of Lipid Research, organization of scientific meetings, advocacy for funding of basic research and education, support of science education at all levels, and promoting the diversity of individuals entering the scientific workforce.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><!-- description --> <\/p>\n<p class='lead'>Congratulations to Dr. Leslie Parise, Professor
