The title of her thesis is <em>\u201cA link between autophosphorylation and dimerization of PhoB \u201c.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Members of Rachel\u2019s family who attended included: Matt (husband),  Camerson (stepson),  Marti (mother), Ken (father), Douglas (brother), Minday(mother-in-law), Ray (father-in-law) and Gena (sister-in-law).<\/p>\n<p>Rachel will start a new position at Duke University as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Dave MacAlpine of the Pharmacology Department. She will research genetic, genomic, biochemical and computational approaches to understand how the local chromatin architecture modulates the transcription and DNA replication programs to ensure genomic stability.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/795\/2018\/07\/image7_7-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"Rachel defense\" title=\"Rachel defense\" height=\"270\" width=\"400\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3094\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We wish Rachel the best in all her future endeavors \u2014
