Johnson receives MIRA R35 grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Michael D. L. Johnson<\/strong> received a bachelors degree from Duke University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied\u00a0the effects of\u00a0calcium\u00a0on bacterial motility and attachment under the mentorship\u00a0of\u00a0Matthew Redinbo, in 2011.<\/p>\n<div id=\"page\" class=\"page clearfix\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8224\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 288px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8224 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/biochem\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/795\/2018\/12\/Michael-D.L.-Johnson-PhD-2011-Alumnus-278x300.png\" alt=\"photo of Michael D.L. The major hope of my lab is to use the understanding of how copper is toxic and how bacteria try to combat that stress as a means to overcome antibiotic resistant bacteria.
