Justin Rectenwald<\/a> has been awarded the 2019 Diane Harris Leadership Award for exemplary public service as a doctoral student in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. The department created this award in honor of Diane Harris former student services manager who retired in 2007 after 30+ years of service. Ms. Harris held her position with great dedication and loyalty and each year faculty nominate graduating student(s) who served the department well in addition to being leaders among their peers.<\/p>\n

Justin Rectenwald, graduate student and lab member of Dr. Stephen Frye and Dr. Ken Pearce<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Justin works jointly in the labs of Dr. Stephen Frye and Dr. Ken Pearce within the Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery (CICBDD). His research is largely directed towards producing chemical probes for chromatin associated proteins. One of the key projects he is working on is implementation of a DNA-Encoded Libraries screening platform at UNC. Justin followed the department\u2019s biophysics track and completed the Molecular and Cellular Biophysics Program (MCBP). He has mentored several undergraduates, is on the Biochemistry and Biophysics Graduate Education Committee, and actively participates in recruiting for the department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
