Congratulations to Silvio Antoniak, Phd with NCSU collaborator James C. Bonner!<\/p>\n

Grant application titled \u201cRole of PAR-2 in nanoparticle modulation of allergic lung disease\u201d
\nThe NC TraCS proposal investigates the contribution of lung macrophage PAR2 on allergic airway disease caused by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). We propose that common allergens like house dust mite allergens form an \u2018allergen corona\u2019 on the surface of the MWCNTs. This specific \u2018allergen corona\u2019 exhibit proteolytic activity leading to PAR2 activation within the lung. \u00a0PAR2 signaling especially on lung macrophages increases and exacerbate the allergic airways disease.<\/p>\n
