Steven Grover, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Nigel Mackman, has been selected to receive a Fellow to Faculty Scholar Award from the American Society of Hematology.<\/p>\n
The prestigious ASH Scholar Awards provide financial support to fellows and junior faculty with dedicated careers in hematology research, as they transition from training programs to careers as independent investigators.\u00a0Dr. Grover will receive a $125,000 award to support his research into the anticoagulant potential of C1 esterase inhibitor in venous thrombosis.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0ASH Scholar Awards\u00a0are made possible through support from the ASH Foundation as well as from the corporate community, individual donors, and funds committed by the Society.\u00a0The program funds hematologists in the United States and Canada who conduct basic, translational, and clinical research that furthers the understanding and treatment of blood disorders.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor researchers, Scholar Awards not only provide vital financial support, but also instill confidence that ASH recognizes their potential to make discoveries of importance to the field,\u201d said 2022 ASH President Jane N. Winter, of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University\u2019s Feinberg School of Medicine. \u201cFor more than 35 years now, ASH has supported fellows and early career faculty who have gone on to become leaders in hematology.
