The SAI holds regular seminars given by researchers and vendors prominent in the imaging field.

Small Animal Ultrasound Imaging Workshop

Working with VisualSonics, the manufacture of our two ultrasound systems, we will be holding an ultrasound imaging workshop on June 7th.
The SAI facility has two Vevo2100 ultrasound systems located in the GMB vivarium and Marsico Hall imaging suite.

We are planning a one day imaging workshop on ultrasound imaging. Detailed itinerary will be put on our webpage. The workshop includes a morning presentation by the Application Scientist from VisualSonics, followed by a hands-on demonstration and training session on general ultrasound operation with animals. There will also be specific focus on contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging on cancer and cardiac imaging on mouse models. Please mark your calendar if you are interested in the workshop. Registration is coming soon.

Shawn Hingtgen to give SAI seminar talk

UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Assistant Professor Shawn Hingtgen to give a talk about “Developing Stem Cell Drug Carriers for Cancer Therapy”
Shawn Hingtgen

The upcoming Small Animal Imaging Seminar will be held on May 19th, 2015, Tuesday at 1pm.

Our speaker this time is Dr. Shawn Hingtgen, from the UNC School of Pharmacy. Dr. Hingtgen’ s lab focuses on developing stem cell-based therapeutic methodology for cancer treatments. Their group has utilized extensively non-invasive imaging methods in stem cell research, particularly optical imaging including both bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging methods. Dr. Hingtgen’s talk will focus on developing stem cell drug carriers, and how optical imaging has been incorporated in the various stages of the study as an important research tool.

Seminar Title: Developing Stem Cell Drug Carriers for Cancer Therapy

Speaker: Shawn Hingtgen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, Biomedical Research Imaging Center.

Date: Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

Time: 1:00-2:00 PM

Location: Marsico Hall, Room 2004 (conference room)
