{"id":3454,"date":"2014-06-12T12:55:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-12T16:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/small-animal-imaging\/sai-modalities\/spect\/"},"modified":"2025-04-22T10:11:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T14:11:04","slug":"spect","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/small-animal-imaging-2\/sai-equipment\/spect\/","title":{"rendered":"SPECT Imaging"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fifth\">\n<h3><strong>Instrument<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><em>nanoScan\u00ae SPECT\/CT<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>The nanoScan SPECT\/CT, a new addition to the SAI, is designed and manufactured by Mediso Ltd, an industry leader in the development of preclinical imaging systems.\u00a0 The new imaging system replaces our legacy<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8012 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"378\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan-600x600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2025\/04\/Mediso-NanoScan.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/> SPECT\/CT system and will provide enhanced SPECT\/CT imaging capabilities to the entire research community.<\/p>\n<p>Main imaging features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wide isotope energy range (20-600 KeV)\u00a0 capable of imaging therapeutic isotopes, including Lu-177, I-131, Bi-213, Ac-225, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Patented1 M3-pinhole\u2122 technology and Tera-Tomo\u2122 3D SPECT reconstruction algorithm to provide absolute quantification of SPECT images;<\/li>\n<li>High sensitivity reaching 13000 cps\/MBq, with sub-millimeter high resolution;<\/li>\n<li>High throughput imaging with triple mouse imaging capability;<\/li>\n<li>Capable of fast dynamic scan with full stationary imaging;<\/li>\n<li>High resolution high speed CT imager with iterative reconstruction;<\/li>\n<li>Animal beds integrated with vital sign monitoring;<\/li>\n<li>Large imaging bore capable of imaging large animal models up to 6 kg;<\/li>\n<li>Integrated intuitive InterView\u2122 FUSION software package for easy visualization and analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new nanoScan SPECT\/CT has been installed and is fully commissioned for preclinical imaging. The imaging core is optimizing the operation procedures and finalizing the SOP for the system.\u00a0 Several imaging experiments have been tested with imaging probes labeled with <sup>67<\/sup>Cu,\u00a0<sup>131<\/sup>I,\u00a0<sup>211<\/sup>At, etc.\u00a0 We will continue working with each group to develop appropriate imaging protocols for specific imaging projects.\u00a0 The system will be available for imaging evaluation at no charge until May 30<sup>th<\/sup>.
