The new system, Vevo-F2 (Fujifilm VisualSonics, Inc), will replace the old Vevo-2100 system that has been serving more than 25 research labs in our community. The new system greatly enhance animal ultrasound imaging capability in the PMI facility. Some new features of the new ultrasound imaging system include:<\/p>\n<p>Main Imaging Features<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Six imaging transducers with wide frequency coverage (from 5~ 50 MHz), allowing imaging from mice to small dogs\/cats. These will provide either high resolution imaging down to 30 \u03bcm, or deep penetration up to 15 mm for larger animals.<\/li>\n<li>Superior image quality with HD image processing technology, leading to the reduction in speckle noise and artifacts while enhancing tissue contrast<\/li>\n<li>4D imaging allowing users to capture dynamic motions in 3D fashion, for example, a complete cardiac cycle in 3D volume.<\/li>\n<li>Super-fast frame rates (as high as 10,000 frames-per-second) for dynamic acquisition and processing including contrast enhanced imaging;<\/li>\n<li>Touchpad interface with enhanced workflow<\/li>\n<li>Three active transfer ports allowing switching between one to another transducer seamlessly<\/li>\n<li>Additional image analysis packages: Auto-LV (automatic LV analysis in B-mode and M-mode); VevoStrain (cardiac strain analysis); VevoVasc (vascular tissue analysis); VevoCQ(microbubble contrast enhanced image analysis for tissue perfusion).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2023\/11\/Vevo-F2-663x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2023\/11\/Vevo-F2-663x1024.png 663w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2023\/11\/Vevo-F2-194x300.png 194w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2023\/11\/Vevo-F2-600x927.png 600w, https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/bric\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/843\/2023\/11\/Vevo-F2.png 672w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 663px) 100vw, 663px\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>The Vevo-F2 ultrasound imaging system is funded by an NIH shared instrumentation grant, 1S10OD034328.
