Peter Mohler, PhD, named director of the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University

February 2011 – Graduate program alumnus Peter Mohler has been named the director of the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University.

Mohler earned his PhD from this department in 2000 for his work in the lab of Sharon Milgram on characterization of apical targeting mechanisms in polarized epithelial cells. After his postdoctoral training with HHMI at Duke University, Mohler was first an assistant professor in pathology at Vanderbilt University, then accepted a faculty position with the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he most recently served as distinguished associate professor of cardiovascular medicine and associate professor of internal medicine and molecular physiology & biophysics.

The Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute with 50-60 principle investigators that seeks to “develop, through research, strategies to cure patients affected with heart and lung disease, and to prevent these diseases from developing in individuals at risk.”
