The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology held its annual holiday party on December 11th.<\/p>\n

\n

Students, faculty, and staff from the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology gathered on December 11th to show appreciation for each other and celebrate another successful year of research and collaboration. The event included an array of food and desserts as well as Dr. Graham Diering\u2019s Grueling [and fun] Christmas Quiz, gingerbread houses, a photo booth, music, and comradery.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Kathleen Caron, the CBP Chair, announced the annual departmental awards. These awards are given to faculty, trainees, and staff members nominated by others in the department in appreciation and recognition for their excellence throughout the year. The CBP Community is a success because of the countless contributions of so many, who generously apply their time and talents to fulfill the department\u2019s mission of leading the way in education, research, and service. Read the names of this year\u2019s award winners below.<\/p>\n

2024 CBP Departmental Award Winners<\/h2>\n

Faculty Mentoring Award <\/strong>\u2013 Jimena Giudice, PhD<\/a>
\n<\/strong>Recognition of outstanding mentoring to any of the following groups: junior faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and\/or undergraduate students<\/p>\n

Innovation in Teaching Award <\/strong>\u2013 Natasha Snider, PhD<\/a>
\n<\/strong>Recognition of new and innovative teaching techniques proven to be useful in achieving the department’s teaching mission<\/p>\n

Publication of the Year Award <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0Gr\u00e9gory Scherrer, PharmD, PhD<\/a> lab group for their article published in Nature<\/em><\/a>and first authored by, Chong Chen, MD, PhD
\n<\/strong>Recognition of best scientific publication, showing a high degree of innovation, publicity, conceptual advancement, and prestige<\/p>\n
