Anderson, MD, PhD,<\/span> has accepted a position with NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, as as the Director of the NIH Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI). Dr. Anderson has chaired the department since 2002, and has seen the department through change and growth, including its relocation to the MBRB building, the recruitment of a number of new primary and joint faculty members, and steady increases in grant funding.  Beyond his contributions to this department, Anderson has served the larger School of Medicine community as Director of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Med into Grad training program, Chair of the UCRF Innovation Award grant review committee, and a member of the NIH Roadmap K12 Program Advisory Committee. <\/p>\n<p>The department is pleased to retain faculty member Alan Fanning, PhD, who will continue working with research technician Jennifer Holmes and postdoctoral fellow Laurel Rodgers.<\/p>\n<h3>Otey appointed Interim Chair<\/h3>\n<p>Executive Dean Marschall Runge and Vice Dean for Research Terry Magnuson announced the news that Associate Professor <a href=\"\/cellbiophysio\/faculty-old\/otey\">Carol Otey, PhD,<\/a> agreed to serve as Interim Chair, stating, \u201cCarol has been serving as Associate Chair of the Department and we look forward to working with her during this transition period.\u201d  Runge and Magnuson have appointed a search committee for a permanent chair.
