Dudley<\/b><\/a>, who joined the department as of December 2010. He earned his PhD in Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia, in 2005. He was most recently an instructor with the Vascular Biology Program and Department of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Children\u2019s Hospital, Boston. There he became affiliated with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. Here at UNC, he has become a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the McAllister Heart Institute.<\/p>\n<p>His research employs tumor models in mice to better understand the biology of tumor-specific endothelial cells; to identify key roles of vascular stem cells from bone marrow and nearby tissues during tumor growth; and to elucidate how tumor cells, with properties of vascular cells, mediate resistance to anti-angiogenic strategies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 2011 \u2013 The department welcomes new faculty member, Assistant Professor Andrew C.
