She then joined UNC as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Keith Burridge in the Lineberger Cancer Center. Afterward, she spent five years on the faculty of the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia before returning to UNC to join the Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology.
