Study Number: IRB 09-0716
Principal Investigator: Ilona Jaspers, Ph.D.
Description: The purpose of this research study is to learn about potential mechanisms of health effects by looking at the cells we collect from individuals. We will scrape the inside of your nose to collect the cells that are there, called epithelial cells. The nasal epithelium is the target for many different environmental health effects. In order to study potential causes of adverse health effects, examination of cell types are necessary. Cell cultures of human nasal epithelial cells can be used to determine if and how certain mechanisms lead to respiratory outcomes.

The Buccal Swab is a small, soft swab that collects cells from the inside of your cheek for DNA analysis.
