The Center conducts research with the aim of improving the understanding of how air pollution affects healthy people and people with lung diseases, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (special populations). Research is also aimed at discovering dietary practices and medications that can protect people from the unhealthy effects of air pollution.<\/p>\n

Exposure chamber research studies are designed to test the effects of exposure to common air pollutants, such as ozone and particulate matter or to test the ability of dietary practices or medications to reduce the effects of ozone and particulate matter on the lungs and heart.<\/p>\n

The Center is seeking people who are interested in participating in its studies. Because the studies often require multiple visits, we are primarily interested in people who live within 50 miles of the Center. If you are interested in participating in a study, additional information about current Center studies is provided in the links below<\/p>\n
