Dr. Browne is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and is a member of the UNC HIV Cure Center.  He received his undergraduate training at the University of Auckland in New Zealand before completing a PhD at Princeton University. Prior to coming to UNC in 2016, Dr. Browne was a staff scientist at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Dr. Browne’s lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms of HIV gene expression and latency. In particular, his lab has focused on applying single cell omics and CRISPR screening to model systems of HIV replication to identify novel factors that regulate the fate of HIV infected cells.
